Sobering visions of a war torn memorial to bloody civil war. I found the walls riddled with bullet holes quite disturbing. The pockmarked look was a common site as we passed through the otherwise beautiful countryside on the way to the Adriatic coast.
I remember visiting Gettysburg PA as a child, the open fields and old canons seem so trivial in comparison. This comment is not about the war but about the memorial and the way we choose to remember conflict. Karlovac was very real, powerful and memorable.
